Everybody has a limit....

If a punching bag is a living thing, it sure has a massive tolerance.

I'm not a punching bag.

Learning and Taking the Baby Steps

Through experience, we learn. Different people want different things in their life; and sometimes what they want in life annoys the shit out of you.

I wish to take up more responsibility other than just studying. For me, college is more than just a degree. It's the time to shape your own personality, learn to deal with people(sometimes extremely annoying people); in other word it's a giant womb to make mistakes and grow...

I really want to grow up. Apparently the time is not now...

Story of the Day

So, today as usual I was helping my uncle to draw his skemetic drawing. I asked him since there's a few extra temperature controller modules, why don't I put 1 temperature sensor on the vacuum pump just to read their temperature and make sure it's OK. The vacuum pump has its own control module itself but I think it would be more convenient to add another sensor so that we can access the data directly from 1 screen. So he replied, what are you gonna do with the extra data? The pump shut off itself when it's overheated. Then he went on telling me a story he watched from TV which I think is pretty interesting.

It was the Appollo 13 mission. So it failed and the astronauts were trying to land safely back into earth. At the NASA control center, there were many people collecting data but only 1 person communicating with the people on board. The situation was very intensed and the crew might or might not make it back alive. So, there's this 1 man at the control center, he discovered that the temperature of the space shuttle shield was increasing rapidly as they made their way back to earth. So he told the person in charge. He then replied:"What can they do about it?" The man said:"Nothing." "Yeah, then they don't have to know..." As we know, the crew made it back safely without knowing the shuttle was heating up rapidly on their way back.

Lesson of the day: If there's nothing they can do about it, don't tell them: If there's nothing you can do about it, you don't have to know.

When you grow up.....

My mom has been telling me more than 1000 times since the very 1st day I started learning:"Study hard hard!!! Then when you grow up, you can get a job in an air-conditioned room!!!"

Yea.. I guess most of us who were born those years got more a less the same lecture and nagging from our parents... Maybe an air-cond room was how my mom viewed as an luxurious item... My family is not used to having air conditioners turned on in our house... Despite the hot weather, fan is always the best choice keeping in mind turning on the air conditioner too frequently means doubling your electricity bill... Being indoor, heat won't kill you of course, so fan it is!!

"Mommy! It's hot here!"

"Next time you start earning more money, you can get an aircond room, an aircond office, a house with no fan but aircond, etc... Now you study hard hard...(apparently 1 hard is not enough, so hard hard)

And now, I know a job in an air-conditioned room is not an ideal one, unfortunately... I finally ended my lazy, inactive holiday with a job my uncle found for me in his new company(the previous one was the boring, not functioning, stupid solar plant where I spent 1 week plus playing Solidworks there from 9-5)

SO! My new job! Technically my 1st one... I work as an intern/helper/extra/officeboy/researcher at this very new startup company. This very new company is creating a experimental production line with machines to prove its result and meet certain criterias in order to get the greenlight for more investment and money to be pumped in to set up a real production line in China, where everything is cheaper!!

Basically, I'm responsible to create all the electrical drawing plans for the this line with all the wiring, signal processing, safety interlocks and so on.... If you think thesethings are complicated, multiply them with 100 because I don't remember those complicated stuff that were not mentioned above.

Of course, I did it with the help and guide from a very experienced electrical engineer, who is my uncle. He designed the complicated shit, explained it to me, I'll draw it, and he'll check it of course. Yes, I've met the expectation my mom has in me: working in an air-cond room and lab. Not the best thing in the world to happen.

Not as good as described by my mom when she told me to study "hard hard". She said if I study hard hard, I can just sit in an aircond room and goyang kaki then get paid. That sound like the security guard at some small apartment, or those aunties who sell toto at the counters. Arghhh!! Mom lied to me again.... It's either she lied or I didn't study hard hard enough to be a 'jaga' lo....

Reading.....

I brought along 2 of my most boring and uninteresting books with me to San Jose... Was planning to finish them since I'll be very bored and maybe I'll try to read them.

Seems like right now, the plan isn't working... I rather spend my time lying on my bed watching some unknown, unattractive, ridiculous, and dumb TV show than flipping the pages... :P

Perhaps reading isn't my thing...

San Jose so far...

Life in San Jose so far seems to be monotonous... I sleep at around 9pm and wake up at 6.30am everyday to follow my uncle to work.

At work, things get even more boring.... This is a solar panel manufacturer it is on the verge of closing down. They laid off their employees from the number of 700 over people down to 40 over people. My uncles works as a senior electrical engineer in the R & D department. I sit at a cubicle which doesn't belong to me(That guy got laid off). So yealoh! My day is basically walk around the plant that doesn't work, look at their machines, go on Facebook, and learn to draw parts using SolidWorks. I can't imagine I'm gonna do this everyday until August. Thinking about it frustrates the hell outta me...

So for the first time in my life, I ate cherries! Fresh cherries that is... I thought it will taste like those red ones on top of the cake, which I hate. Turned out the fresh ones taste like berries... Hmmm... New discovery for myself in the small cubicle.
